KUMIHIMO is a weaving technique using silk threads, and there are said to be more than 3500 ways of combining them. In ancient Japan, these were used for weapon parts and as decorations for tea utensils. In the modern age, it has been regularly used in traditional Japanese clothes, such as the sash holder on a kimono. The KUMIHIMO in this wrist watch is assembled from Japanese silk. The traditional technique inherited by craftsmen has been to include air while weaving, to give a sensation of luster, fullness, and warmth. This gives it both elegance and beauty.
The gilding does not use the currently mainstream IP gilding (ion plating gilding), but rather makes use of nickel free palladium gilding, utilizing Japanese technology.
